[Canon] S (Newest Model) | Film Cameras | April 1939
The advanced camera supports slow shutter speeds from 1 second to 1/20 second. In addition to the standard Nikkor f/3.5 lens, three additional lenses were provided: Nikkor f/2 (6 elements in 3 groups, Sonnar type), Nikkor f/2.8 (4 elements in 3 groups, Tessar type), and Nikkor f/4.5 (4 elements in 3 groups, Tessar type). This is an excellent lens lineup suitable for Japan's only high-end 35mm camera. The frame counter is located on the top of the camera, underneath the film winding handle. It was at the front on the Hansa Canon, which allowed for space for the slow shutter speed adjustment mechanism. Due to changes in internal mechanisms, the top cover is made of two parts, one of which covers the protruding viewfinder section. This differs from the single-piece top cover of the Hansa Canon. The slow shutter speed dial is designed with a lever for ease of operation.
